Doug Marone: The Bills are Planning on Starting Jeff Teul Against New England

No one at One Bills Drive, not even Jeff Teul himself thought this was going to happen.  Rookie head coach Doug Marone clearly stated that they are planning on Jeff Teul to start Week 1.  Now, this does not mean that you need to start panicking yet.  E.J. Manuel has started practicing with trainers so there is still a chance that he can be ready to go after a week of practice.  Continue reading to find out what has been happening in Orchard Park since Kevin Kolb went down with yet another concussion.

Kevin Kolb may have suffered a career ending concussion.  If my number is correct, the latest knee to the head would make it three for him.  If this wasn't bad enough for him, the Bills brought in Veteran QB Matt Leinhart.  They even made a late preseason trade with Detroit for Thaddeus Lewis.  This would bring the total QB's on the roster to 5.  Not something that Dough Marone or any other coach in Buffalo would have thought.

Now does this mark the end of Kevin Kolb's chances in Buffalo?  There really is no clear answer to this, but all rumors say yes.  It appears that the Bill's will place Kolb on injured reserve.  Kevin Kolb signed with a guarantee $1 million.  They will probably place him on IR and pay him.  This latest concussion might just be his last as a professional.  Not a doctor here, but he has to be thinking retirement right about now.

Can E.J. come back before Week 1?  Not one person is counting him out.  In fact it is highly possible that he will.  Maybe this is just a smoke screen.  What I mean is that maybe Dough Marone trying to hide the possibility of Manuel playing against New England.  Just a small game of chess with Bill Bellicheat!  Now they have to prepare for either QB.  Makes it a bit harder, but not impossible.

Now, I will be writing more as the week progresses.  I am by no means involved with the Bills organization.  My comments are my own and do not reflect any of those in Buffalo.  I do however welcome your comments and suggestions.  If you have any you can write them here.

Andre Reed: Its Time To Enter The Hall of Fame

Each year the NFL chooses 5 players to be enshrined into the NFL Hall of Fame.   This year is no different.  Will this year be the year that #83 Andre Reed finally makes it in?  I believe that with enough press and maybe we can get it trending on Twitter, we can help the NFL make its decision.

If you are a member of Twitter make sure to put #AndreReedHOF after each post.  With this #hashtag we can let the NFL know that we as Bills fans want our beloved wide receiver to finally get what he has earned.  There are other Bills players in the HOF like Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith.

I believe that the issue with Andre Reed was the fact that he was in a class with some other great players.  Until this year, he always had a chance.  He just never really stood out.  Below is the list of the HOF finalists for this year.  Which five would you choose to enter into the NFL Hall of Fame?

2012 NFL Mock Draft: The Buffalo Bills Draft

There are many 2012 NFL Mock Draft sites online already.  I think that they were putting them up early and often.  What is the buzz around 1 Bills Drive?  What will the Bills do with the 11th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft?  It is hard to guess, so I thought I would take a look at some possible draft picks.

There are some fans that will argue that the Bills need to add a pass rush threat to their defense.  Looking at the fact that they allowed 400 yards a game, a pass rusher might just be what the Bills need.  There is one guy that comes to mind when pass rush is mentioned. Brandon Jenkins of FSU.  He is underrated and should easily drop to 11th in the first round.  This would make him available for the Bills to pick up.  He could start immediately at OLB and provide the threat that they need.    Does the name Cornelius Bennett or Darryl Talley come to mind?

Thinking that the Bills are not going to pay the $7.5 million that Stevie Johnson is asking for, they might be looking at Michael Floyd wide receiver out of Notre Dame.  Even if they resign Stevie this could be a perfect complement and he would fit right into the Bills plans. A big receiver at 6'3" and 220 pounds.  He has good hands and is a pretty good route runner.  The Bills need a big receiving threat.

If the Bills decide to add depth to the offensive line which despite all the injuries are tied for 1st for sacks allowed.  They might choose to pick Reilly Reiff OT Iowa.  He could help protect Fitzpatrick and maybe even open up a few holes for whoever is running the ball next season.  Remember even though Fred Jackson looked great, CJ Spiller is really starting to show the NFL why the Buffalo Bills drafted him.  Still sticking with Freddy on this one though.  No man should lose his job to injury.  Even so, they could use both and be set at running back.

There you have it.  Three possible draft picks for the 2012 NFL Draft.  Its time to put all the Dick Juaron draft picks to bed and start anew.  Remember that it was just a couple years ago the Bills fired everyone and started fresh.  Lets give Chan Gailey at least one more year before we call for his head.  But, George Edwards its time to cut ties with this man.   Time to sit back and wait for the 2012 NFL Draft to see who the Buffalo Bills will pick up.
