Where Do They Go Now?

Courtesy of CBS Sports
Last nights game against the Cleveland Browns seemed well in hand.  That of course was before the unthinkable happened.  We will get into that a bit later on.  First lets review the score.  37-24 the Browns managed to come away with a record of 3-2, Bills record sits at 2-3.  This is with their Playoff hopes dwindling.  But, with the fans all hope is not lost.

Freddy Jackson showed exactly why he getting paid.  He played another great game, and this with being less than 100%.  Even CJ Spiller managed to get a big run for a touchdown.  The defense played tough all game.  They came away with five sacks.  Just too bad that the Bills didnt come away with the win.  They could have used. it.

Now, onto the unthinkable.  Highly touted rookie sensation EJ Manuel went down with a sprained LCL and will miss the next couple of weeks according to Coach Marone.  This leaves a big question for the Buffalo Bills.  This is because Jeff Teul did not come and play well at all.  In fact he under threw wide open receivers, his passes were ducks and he missed a safety creeping up to intercept.  All mistakes that EJ would not have made.

EJ Manuel went down after being hit on a scramble.  The Cleveland Browns can be seen celebrating afterwards.  This is a classless act.  They knew that the only way they were going to win was to take out the man that was going to lead the Bills to victory.  Maybe this was revengeful move.  Not sure.  But, what I do know is that the Bills need to rebound by signing a veteran QB.  In my next post I will try to review some guys that are out there.

Up next the Bills have the Bengals.  The good thing about this that they have 10 days or so before they need to play.  Maybe the sprain will heal.  The rumor is they are getting all the defense guys back for the next game.  Who knows.  Heres to a 3-3 record for the Bills after the Cincinnati game.

Season ReCap: How Close Are We?

I decided to sit back and take a look at the season so far for the Buffalo Bills.  Wondering how close are they to turning things around in Buffalo?  Just sit back and enjoy what I see.  Of course if you feel different you could always leave a comment and let us all know.

Week 1 VS Patriots

This game was so close.  A heartbreaking loss vs a divisional rival.  Losing by 2 pts to this team really had all of us Bills fans thinking that we were on the verge.  But, was this game winnable?  Yes...you see the Bills actually had the lead.  But they allowed Tom Brady way too much time.  Lesson learned?

Week 2 VS Panthers

Were players ready?  Just  week earlier they lost a close game to the hated Patriots.  Are they going to be able to compete with an NFC team?  YES!  They managed a 4th Quarter comeback to win the game by 1 point.  24-23.  EJ Manuel become one of the few rookie QBs in NFL history to have a 4th quarter comeback in either their first or second game.  Nice win for the boys from Buffalo!

Week 3 VS Jets

Wow!  Neither team deserved the win in the game, but someone had to get it.  Watching this game was hard.  The Bills managed to win the turnover battle and the Jets gave up almost 200 yards on penalties.  But, the Bills really didnt want to win, but the Jets were trying hard to lose.  But, in the end the Jets had a 7 point lead and won 27-20.

Week 4 VS Ravens

As a fan, I am getting tired of late wins in the games.  Don't get me wrong, I love a good game.  I'm just not sure that my heart can take this for 16 weeks.  This game had some great defense against the defending Super Bowl Champions the Baltimore Ravens.  Joe Flacco had a game that he might want to forget.  He set a career high, for interceptions in a single game.  Five times, count them again, five times the Bills managed to pick off Joe Flacco.  The Bills had a 20-7 half-time lead.  But, managed to keep the game interesting and squeezed out a 23-20 win.

Up next the Browns on Thursday night.  Can the Buffalo Bills manage to put the game away before its too late.  Or will they play another close one.  Not sure, but its on Thursday so the Bills really need to do some practicing with this short week.  Well, who knows maybe it will be a good game, and afterward the Bills will be either 3-2 or 2-3.  But, either way, its proving to be a close game and a interesting season for the Bills!

Jets Outlast Bills: Sloppy Play On Both Sides Of The Ball

EJ Under Pressure All Day!  Photo Courtesy of BuffaloBills.com
It was another divisional matchup.  The Bills were on the road.  EJ Manuel's first game in hostile territory.  There were many questions going in, many of them were answered by the end of the first half.  The Jets rookie QB, Geno Smith was also a question.  Does Geno have what it takes?  Can he win?  Is Geno better than EJ?  There are many other questions but lets focus on where the Bills go from here.

The Bills started out by losing a close game to the Patriots in week 1.  Then in week 2 they pull out a close win against the Panthers.  Can they do the same against the Jets?  The answer to this question is no.  The Jets pretty much kept the Bills in the game.  They managed a franchise record 18 penalties.  But, at the same time the Bills Defense kept the game close.  But, the secondary also got burned on a few big plays.  They need to tighten this up or its going to be another long season for the fans.

The offense never really got going.  Yes, they managed a pretty good looking drive in the 4th but by then it was a bit too late.  EJ was under pressure all day, getting sacked 8 times.  The play calling looked very predictable and conservative.  Many fans are feeling that they should have opened it up and let EJ learn a bit.  The running game was lack luster except a big run by Fred Jackson, who just may be the Bills starter with CJ Spiller suffering a knee injury.

Now its time to get ready for the Superbowl champions.  The Ravens come to to town next week after blowing out the Houston Texans.  The Bills Defense needs to play better and tighter.  The offense needs to be less predictable.  They also need to protect EJ Manuel.  This kid can not throw the ball if he is laying down.  Here is the key to beating Joe Flacco, pressure him and stop the run.  If you make Joe Flacco beat you with his arm, then you have half the game won.

One final word!  Go Bills!  #BillsMafia

EJ Manuel! He Is What We Thought He Was

Think back in April when the Buffalo Bills drafted EJ Manuel.  What exactly did you say at that moment?  I know what I felt.  I was thinking here we go again.  I had that same feeling this past Sunday when they managed a comeback drive against the Carolina Panthers.  How many times have we (the fans) been sitting on the edge of our seats just to be let down over and over again?

Is the time now for the Buffalo Bills?  It seems that the majority of the fans believe so.  I know that I do.  While I was not in attendance at The Ralph.  I am sure that I felt the same way.  Remember last week when the defense allowed a huge drive at the end of the game?  I had that same feeling when the Panthers were moving the ball and left only 98 seconds on the clock.  I was thinking here we go again.  Hopes and dreams then its a big let down.

Even though some might say that the Bills got lucky on that drive with the pass interference call.  I say that Stevie Johnson would have caught the ball and ran it into the end zone for 7 pts.  Which may have left enough time on the clock for Cam and Crew to get into field goal range.  So, it may be a blessing that he was interfered with.

Now to address some of the bad press that EJ has been getting.  Mainly this article "Go Easy On EJ Manuel Praise". Not sure what this guy is thinking, but I for one feel that EJ deserves the praise.  He ran a 1.5 minute drive for a touchdown.  Its something that these fans have not seen since probably Jim Kelly.  Lets not rain on the parade.

Is Ej the answer?  No one can answer that as of right now.  I mean how many games has he played.  He has played in 2 preseason games, and so far 2 regular season games.  But, he does seem to be calm, cool and collected.  He seems to understand what he has to do.  He knows that there is a lot of work left, he knows that he can only get better.  This is what makes this kid so great.  He understands.

So, as the saying goes.  He is what we thought he was.  He is just a young NFL quarterback who may be able to take this team to the next level.  Of course they need to give him the weapons that they gave Jim Kelly.  They already have CJ Spiller (Thurman Thomas), but is Stevie Johnson the next Andre Reed?  I don't know, I am not even going to say that.  But, I feel that Robert Woods may just be EJ's Andre.

What do you think?

Biggest Game Of The Year! Jarius Byrd and other Happenings In Buffalo!

Guess its just about time for a new NFL Season in Central NY.  The feeling that football is finally here is something that most Buffalo Bills fans can testify to.  Its like none other.  Those that follow the Bills faithfully have to be some of the best football fans in the nation.  This weekend just happens to be the opening weekend and its the biggest game of the year.  Yep, the New England Patriots are coming to town!

It seems that the place to be Sunday morning is Hammers Lot.  Its right next to the camping lot, and best of all its not governed by the NFL.  What this means is that Pinto Ron aka Ken Johnson can tailgate like he is used to.  Fans from near and far, all show up at Hammers looking to meet Ken and have some of his grub that is cooked right on the hood of his car.  Below you can see a photo of myself with "Pinto Ron".  This was my first trip to Hammers, and this weekend will be the first time I attended the season opener, and my first New England Patriots game.   I'm not worried mainly because the Buffalo Bills have never lost a game I've been at.  Lets hope the streak keeps going!  Go Bills!

Myself and Pinto Ron (Ken Johnson) Taken before the Minnesota Game

Now on to the Jarius Byrd situation.  There seems to be many fans upset with his recent antics.  People everywhere want to know why it seems like he just does not want to play this year.  I, myself have not been completely sold on this.  I believe that there is some issues between Byrd and the organization.  But, he is a professional and its about business.  I think that he will go out and play as much as he can.  NO!  I don't think that he will play the first game.  I think that he will finally realize that he has to play in order to get other teams interested.  He honestly does not want to be a distraction.  Mainly because that is not attractive to other teams.  Does he want to play in B-Lo, not sure.  I mean he didn't put a clause where he could not be tagged again.  So, does anyone really know what Byrd wants?  Probably not.

There are others things going on.  Like next week at the Carolina Panthers game.  Its the annual #BillsMafia Tweetup!  You can get discounted tickets plus access to the field after the game.  If your interested check out the BillsMafia blog.

Well, after the game on Sunday I will be traveling back home.  But, if you give me a few hours to get home, I will be posting some pics and my comments on the game regardless of the outcome.  My seat is section 231, Row 8, Seat 24.  Thats right Paul McGuire Club!

Check back soon for more!

Vampirestat.com and a few other bogus sites

If you have a blog and noticed that your getting a whole lot of traffic from Vampire Stat or some other site with a similar name then beware.

Do not click the site name to figure out what it is.  It is bogus and you could end up with Malware on your computer.  All this does is send out bots to different blogs in order to get visits so they can infect your machine with ads.

Just ignore them, they do not have any effect on your Adsense standings.

Hope this helps others.

Jim Leonhard Back In RED, WHITE, BLUE

Jim Leonhards career has made a circle.  He is expected to be in Buffalo today for a visit.  I say sign him, we could use the depth at CB.

With 2 spots on the active roster, the Bills have options.  If they decide to sign Leonhard to a contract, they could keep the other spot open for Thad Lewis if they need to activate him from the practice squad.

Go Bills!

Jim Leonhard back in Buffalo red white and blue? Has experience in Pettine's system. If Byrd is hobbled, it makes sense. Searcy's been bad

Tebow: Its Time To Hang The Cleats

Enough of the hype already.  Tim Tebow's time in the NFL might just be over, for now.  After the news that the New England Patriots released Tim Tebow, the talk of his career being over began.  I thought that maybe I would go back a bit and follow exactly what happened to the guy who was once a first round draft pick.

Tim Tebows Career

The Denver Bronocs created a situation on draft day that caused a stir among all the circles keeping tabs.  They orchestrated a trade with Baltimore Ravens that brought Tim Tebow to Denver, in the First Round.  Experts all across this land figured that he would go in the third, at the earliest.  Why, because of his arm strength and accuracy.  They were issues that everyone could see, all except Josh Daniels the rookie head coach of the Denver Broncos.

In the beginning it seemed that Denver was willing to wait for Kyle Orton to become the guy they thought he could.  Then the un-thinkable happened.  They put in Tim Tebow against the Jets and he scored on a 5 yard run.  That got his name being thrown a bit more.  It even managed to sell a few Tim Tebow Jerseys.  But, in the end, Denver acquired Peyton Manning and moved on.  Tim Tebow soon landed in New York!

Rex Ryan has always been known for causing a circus for the New York Jets.  The Jets were going to be a new beginning for Tebow Time.  Or was it?  Rex Ryan and company had a plan for Tim.  They wanted him to compete for the starting job with Mark Sanchez.  What happened instead was a travesty to someone who had a dream of being a NFL star.  They only used Tebow in gimmick plays like the wild cat.  Soon opposing teams became well aware of this and shut him down.  After just one season Tebow was on his way back to Florida.

Robert Kraft stepped in and decided that they could use Tim Tebow back in the North East.  The New England Patriots invited him to training camp.  They wanted to give him a shot at backing up Tom Brady.  After a few preseason games, which by the way were very sub par for any QB.  The Patriots finally decided that it was not such a great idea. Maybe they should have used Tim as a TE, since Aaron Hernandez is incarcerated on a murder charge.  Tebow was cut on this day, Saturday August, 31, 2013, probably for the final time in the NFL.

Three teams in just as many years.  Its been a rocky start to a career that was lucky enough to get started at all.  Well, cheers to you Tim for remaining calm and taking it all in.  Wishing you the best of lucky at your next stop in life.  Good Luck!

Doug Marone: The Bills are Planning on Starting Jeff Teul Against New England

No one at One Bills Drive, not even Jeff Teul himself thought this was going to happen.  Rookie head coach Doug Marone clearly stated that they are planning on Jeff Teul to start Week 1.  Now, this does not mean that you need to start panicking yet.  E.J. Manuel has started practicing with trainers so there is still a chance that he can be ready to go after a week of practice.  Continue reading to find out what has been happening in Orchard Park since Kevin Kolb went down with yet another concussion.

Kevin Kolb may have suffered a career ending concussion.  If my number is correct, the latest knee to the head would make it three for him.  If this wasn't bad enough for him, the Bills brought in Veteran QB Matt Leinhart.  They even made a late preseason trade with Detroit for Thaddeus Lewis.  This would bring the total QB's on the roster to 5.  Not something that Dough Marone or any other coach in Buffalo would have thought.

Now does this mark the end of Kevin Kolb's chances in Buffalo?  There really is no clear answer to this, but all rumors say yes.  It appears that the Bill's will place Kolb on injured reserve.  Kevin Kolb signed with a guarantee $1 million.  They will probably place him on IR and pay him.  This latest concussion might just be his last as a professional.  Not a doctor here, but he has to be thinking retirement right about now.

Can E.J. come back before Week 1?  Not one person is counting him out.  In fact it is highly possible that he will.  Maybe this is just a smoke screen.  What I mean is that maybe Dough Marone trying to hide the possibility of Manuel playing against New England.  Just a small game of chess with Bill Bellicheat!  Now they have to prepare for either QB.  Makes it a bit harder, but not impossible.

Now, I will be writing more as the week progresses.  I am by no means involved with the Bills organization.  My comments are my own and do not reflect any of those in Buffalo.  I do however welcome your comments and suggestions.  If you have any you can write them here.

Panic In Buffalo Land!

This is not about what I think the Bills are going to do now that they are down to just one healthy QB on the roster.  It is about what I think of the fans that seem to turn around when their team loses just one game, and a preseason game at that. If you really want to find out, then continue reading, but please do not be offended if your one of those fans because you have been fore warned.

Just about 2 weeks ago.  EJ Manuel looked poised to take over the starting job in Buffalo.  All the fans were talking playoffs and a great season was headed our way.  This even went into the Minnesota Vikings game at The Ralph.  Which by the way I had a great view from the Paul McGuire Club.  Then the news of a knee injury caused us to feel the hurt that we have felt so many times in the last 13 years.  Now, it seemed that our fate was in the hands of Kevin Kolb.

Kevin Kolb, a journeyman QB that just was not up to par.  His skills and talent were lacking.  Fans were not ready and not happy about this whole chain of events.  But, being loyal fans they were willing to put their support behind Kevin Kolb and hope for EJ being back in the first week.  Then yesterdays game against Washington happened.

Kevin Kolb went down with concussion like symptoms.  This is his third concussion and his future in Buffalo may be in jeopardy.  Undrafted rookie Jeff Teul was called upon to carry the team through the rest of this game.  He looked like a deer in headlights at times.  In my opinion he did not look prepared.  But, that maybe different next week when the Bills play Detroit.  Hopefully at that time, he can give fans a bit of hope.
Can Jeff Teul carry the team.  No!  He may look like a viable option at backup, but he is not ready to be a starter in this league.  This is where the panic started.  The game was not even over and the thoughts of bringing in Matt Leinhart started.  Is this a good move?  I don't believe so, I think that its too early to start panicking.  Dough Marone and the Bills may have to bring someone in, just to have a safety net.  But, lets wait and see where E.J. Manuel is next week.

If Manuel is a go that first week, it is believed that the Bills have a chance.  If not, then give the reins to Jeff Teul.  I know that he did not play well against Washington.  But, the entire team didn't play well.  So, its not all his fault.  So, don't panic yet.  Who knows, it could Teul Time!

Jarius Byrd Contract: Where The Bills Go From Here

Jarius Byrd and the Buffalo Bills could not reach an agreement.  What this means is that now that both parties are not allowed to negotiate a long term contract until after the 2013 season.  What this means for the Buffalo Bills and Jarius Byrd.

First this means that the Bills have options.  I believe that they should look into trading Byrd.  Yes, he is a great player, at least he was the last couple of seasons.  But, at the same time his he worth more that $7 million per year?  I don't believe so.

As we all know that our beloved team is in the rebuilding stage.  Its the same stage they have been in for over the last decade.  Spending all our resources on one player is not the answer to improving our team over the next couple years.

Of course, they could pay him for one year and then tag him again.  This would just cost more money.  But, if I am correct it would give Byrd a chance to sign with another team if they were willing to pay him that much.  At the same time Buffalo would be compensated with a 1st and 3rd round picks. Might not be a bad thing. What do you think?

Byrds options are almost as lucrative.  He could sit out the 2013 season in hopes of signing next year with another team.  But, this could prove to be destructive to his career.  At the same time he could also sign a one year deal, for a lot less than the $7 million, with a clause that he could not be tagged as a franchise player next season.  Allowing him to sign with anyone.

Of course as a fan of the best team in football, I want them to sign Byrd.  Also, I am a fan that wants a winning franchise each year, so I don't think that Byrd is worth it.  I say trade him, get a draft pick and a player.  Then work through this season and go for the draft next year to make a move  to get the guy we all want.

What ever they decide I am sure that in the beginning we will all either bitch about or stand behind our team.

Just a link to Chan Gaileys Farewell Address

90 Seconds to say goodbye....classy, classy man....Chan good luck in where ever you go from here.

Chans Presser

Psy: Last Performance of Gangnam Style

Here is a rumor that most of us that watch One Bills Drive loves to hear.  K-Pop sensation Psy has said that Gangnam Style has been performed for the last time.  I for one find this as one more reason to rejoice.  Even though it ranks just below the firing of Chan Gailey and his bunch of so called coaches that he surrounded himself with.

As with Psy, Chan Gailey had us all fooled.  Psy made money and fame off of us Americans at the same time it was revealed that he was in fact Anti-American.  Chan Gailey made money off us Bills fan at the same time he was revealed that he really had no idea on how to call a winning game.  Of course he did manage to pull out a win against every losing team on the schedule.  This act by Gailey did nothing but to secure another double digit losing season.  This is one reason why the powers that be at 1 Bills Drive got together and fired Chan Gailey.

I know what every one of you are thinking.  You read the title of this post and now you feel that you are being bamboozled.  Your thinking that it was about some Korean music performer, just to find out that your reading about the Buffalo Bills firing Chan Gailey.  The thing about this is that its just the biggest news to come out of Buffalo in the last 3 years.  Now, I would like to give some insight on what the next big thing to be heard out of One Bills Drive.

Latest News From Buffalo!

While sitting and listening to Mike Catalana on the news last night I found out that Russ Brandon (not Buddy Nix) will be meeting with Ralph Wilson.  Does this spell the end of the Nix regime in Buffalo.  There are many fans that are hoping so.  I personally like Buddy Nix.  He has done some pretty good things for the team.  At the same time, he did hire Chan and then he allowed him to hire the rest of those idiots that he called a staff.

So, who will the Buffalo Bills hire as the next coach?  Will they hire this person for 3 years and start over again?  What is the fate of Ryan Fitzpatrick?  Will Fred Jackson be traded?  These are a few of the questions that are swirling around the Internet these days.  Fans want to know.   As a fan I would also love to know the answer to these questions.  So, lets all say goodbye to Psy and good riddens to Chan Gailey.

Go Buffalo!
